If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Smartse (talk) 23:46, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Sorry for not explaining at the time why I undid your additions to Improv Asylum, I did so for a number of reasons. Firstly your username suggests that you have a strong conflict of interest with the theatre - whether or not this is the case I revert any additions made when this could possibly be the case. Secondly Wikipedia is not a space for advertising - sections like "Its Group Sales also allow for hilarious Prom and Graduation parties." made it seem like it had been written purely as a way to increase the profile of the theatre. Articles should represent a neutral viewpoint on the topic. If you are indeed affiliated with the theatre then this is probably hard for you to achieve (it's not your fault but the case with any topic with which someone has a close affiliation).

If you wish to improve the article I would suggest that you use information from sources that can be found on google news: [1] of which there are plenty. Generally company websites should only be used to reference facts that cannot be found elsewhere: If you are interested this page will explain why.

If you do have a conflict of interest please declare it on your talk page to let other editors know. You may also wish to consider changing your username here: Wikipedia:Changing_username as your current one would be deemed promotional by some editors which could lead to it being blocked.

I hope you choose to improve the article following this advice. If you have any questions or need a hand please message me. Thanks Smartse (talk) 15:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
