To People Like Me Who Know Little of Wiki

[edit]

To leave a message, hit "edit this page." Then, scroll to the bottom, hit enter, and then make start a new section, by surrounding your choice of a title with two = marks on each side of the Title. At the end of your message, add four tildes, like what Cyktsui said.

Innove, I am glad to see that you would like to provide hints to other Wikipedian! Just one comment, if you want to start a new section on a page, you can always click on the "+" button next to edit this page tab. In this way, you do not have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. --Cyktsui 00:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But clicking + makes it seem like an addition to the current page...it confused me. Although it makes sense to do that rather than make new titles each time some one new posts. Innove 00:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought of another idea. Different posters could alternate between the ":" so that different posts would be indented, not indented, to provide a cleaner message system. Same user posts could simply keep the same format. Though I don't know how to put that into simple words.

You can experiment with it at Sandbox. The "+" button basically allow you to add a new heading with its content. Any more questions, feel free to drop me a message on my talk page. --Cyktsui 01:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia by creating the page Wikipedia is good. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Why does the Wikipedia input box type "Comment" form a new article? I was under the impression the Comment input box would result in a comment, in the Discussion section for whichever article the input box was placed in. If all it does is create an additional article, then what is the point of the "Comment" input box? It wouldn't be needed, considering there is a "Create" input box, which creates a new article.
