If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on JAN Trust, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Are you interested in helping to build the encyclopedia without adding any content related to you or your organization? If so, please let me know and I can unblock you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:45, 12 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anna,

I wonder if you could help us. Our organisation 'JAN Trust', a multi-award winning charity, attempted to create an article about our charity and the work we do but we have been blocked and are confused as to why. We created the article by looking at articles of other charities. How do organisations such as Oxfam have articles about themselves?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. There are several problems, many of which are referred to above in the brown box. You say "we" which indicates that this may be a group account. It indicates that you represent JAN, meaning that you have a conflict of interest and should not be the one to create the article. (If it is notable, others will create it.) You are probably creating this article as part of your job that you are paid for. You did not declare that, which is strictly against policy here. You wrote the article like an advertisement. You did not add any media references to show notability. (See WP:42.) Also, at least some of the article was copy pasted from your website, which is a copyright violation, putting Wikipedia in a position of breaking the law. Thank you for your help. So, if I've understood correctly Oxfam would not have created their own article someone else would have as it is a notable organisation. I should have read the guidelines properly - sorry. I actually meant to add all our press links (media references) before clicking on 'Save page' but accidentally clicked on it before I had. Please could you suggest how I should proceed. A genuine mistake has been made due to not getting to grips with the process of creating an article - should have created a draft first. Thanks.
That's okay. Wikipedia can be daunting and is hard to figure out. So, in response, I do not know who started the Oxfam article. It could have been someone with a conflict of interest. Regarding your press links, please read WP:RS to know if they are good sources. How to procede? Well, if you insist on creating and building this article, to start with, you must tell us if editing here is part of your job, you must read a few links that I will provide below, you must tell us how many people have access to this account, then we can talk about an unblock. If all goes well, you will eventually have to request a username change.
