This page of mine is filled with hilarious warnings from admins. I'll keep it like this so visitors on my page can see how capable Wikipedia admins are and how creative they can get when trying to warn contributors.

I won't bother reading all of the below. The whole point is to urge me to exercise caution anyway, which is what I have always been doing.

Remember, Wikipedia after all is a free project which needs support from contributors. Nobody trusts it completely anyway.

In business, people do not open Wikipedia to look for company info. They use paid subscriptions such as Reuters, Bloomberg, OneSource, and the like.

Company info written on Wikipedia is for the benefit of the wide public (and for this benefit, each and every single piece of information need only be third-party verifiable). It is NOT written for the benefit of investors or potential customers since they do not use Wikipedia.

I can simply walk away and withdraw my contributions (which is what I will do).

How to avoid an embarrassing situation[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, there are guidelines for editing wikipedia articles where a conflict of interest may exist.

To summarise the main points:

If you are receiving monetary or other benefits or considerations to edit Wikipedia as a representative of an organization (whether directly as an employee or contractor of that organization)then we very strongly encourage you to avoid editing Wikipedia in areas where there is a conflict of interest that would make your edits non-neutral (biased). Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy states that all articles must represent views fairly and without bias, and conflicts of interest do significantly and negatively affect Wikipedia's ability to fulfill this requirement.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum for advertising or self-promotion, or a vanity press. Suggestions to Admins

(1) Work hard. Explain policies in greater details by providing examples and practical applications rather than referring to generic guidelines. Note that an ordinary contributor does not have the time to go through pages of guidelines and policies. Unexplained actions from admins would discourage contributors from contributing.

(2) Be specific. Look into contributors' writings more closely and provide specific comments after making corrections to their writings.

(3) Be positive. Assume good intentions from contributors and use this as a starting point. Do not rely on technical issues (e.g. IP lookups) and make false allegations.

(1) There is no original research in my contribution to the article Jones Lang LaSalle. All analyses make reference to independent sources, which cannot be deemed personal analysis.

(2) Please explain why the current comments in the article Jones Lang LaSalle are considered as promotional material, while the same tone is being used in McKinsey & Company, UBS AG
