There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 00:26, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I would like to appeal my block. I have changed my username which was deemed to contravene wikipedia's rules. Is there any other reason why I am blocked? FYI the Vancouver Economic Commission who I work for is a non-profit and we can never benefit commercially from any of our work

Decline reason:

Wikipedia does not treat non-profits differently than for-profits. Editing about your own organization is a severe conflict of interest and will not be permitted. You will still need to comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies(click those links to review). To be unblocked, you will need to agree to not edit about your organization and tell what it is you will edit instead as a general Wikipedia contributor. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:37, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Thanks user:331dot I accept that I should not be able to edit about my own organization but I am not trying to. I am trying to edit the page 'Economy of Vancouver' where as one of the leading economists in Vancouver I feel that I can contribute towards this page, especially as it is not very comprehensive, is inaccurate, and has very few citations. This will be my last appeal to unblock this account, else I will give up trying to make this wikipedia page better. Thank you for your consideration

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. O Still Small Voice of Clam (formerly Optimist on the run) 14:06, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else will review this request; you used your organization as a source for edits. That too is a conflict of interest(which you will still need to formally declare). To be unblocked you will need to agree to not directly make edits about your organization or use it as a source; you may make edit requests that can be reviewed by independent editors instead. 331dot (talk) 10:29, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
