May 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm David J Johnson. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Jean Machine and User talk:Materialscientist have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Your addition was advertising which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Additionally, it was in poor English - the first letter of any name should be in caps. Thank you. David J Johnson (talk) 12:46, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is not promotion l am just stating correct information from the past please read my info thank you JayfounderFus (talk) 14:05, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you read all the comments, you will find that no experienced editor agrees with you. Nor have you explained the poor English of your "contribution". Should you continue with this and the WP:COI reasoning below, you could find yourself blocked from editing. Thank you David J Johnson (talk) 15:58, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Understand suggest you rework the wording to your satisfaction bearing in mind you are rectify an existing incorrect wikipedia information about the jean machine if you require proof l will furnish you with the name of the public relations operative who handle the company in the 70s in uk.thankyou JayfounderFus (talk) 16:22, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A "public relations operative who handle the company in the 70s in the uk" is not a reliable, secondary, source for Wikipedia. In any case, the article is up for deletion. David J Johnson (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, JayfounderFus. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jean Machine, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 13:35, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
