From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the 2tor inc wikipedia page is an important addition to the Wikipedia encyclopedia for several reasons. First of all, It is a groundbreaking and new company which was just announced to the public 1 week ago. Since then, it has been covered by several sources ( http://trainerbill.wordpress.com/2008/09/17/company-to-watch-2tor/, http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2008/09/12/2tor, http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/15206.html, http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/15610.html) and other articles are in the works by educational newspapers and websites. Secondly, 2tor is embarking on it's first confirmed partnership with USC and potential students will want to know what 2tor is when they see it on the USC education website. Also, 2tor is the first of it's kind to offer such an interactive educational experience on the web, unlike University of Phoenix. It is not a university created for the web, but an existing program brought to the web with new technology. Since 2tor hit the news less than one week ago, people have been reading about it and asking what it is. Blogs have been posting on it and with this Wikipedia page, people can come to get a general glance of what 2tor inc is. The references I posted are from the USC website itself, 2tor's own website and the Inside Higher education site, which is a reliable source for news in education. The articles provide critiques to 2tor, so it is clearly not written by a 2tor employee. Please work with me to let me improve the 2tor page. Do we need to put why 2tor is notable on the page itself? I was weary of doing that because i didn't want it to sound like an advertisement.

Notability of 2tor

[edit]

A tag has been placed on 2tor requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:26, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article was about a new company and which described future products, nothing that came even close to meeting WP:CORP, and it wasn't referenced, nor was any kind of genuine notability asserted. BTW, are you associated with the company? AKRadeckiSpeaketh 18:59, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
