We're delighted you've started contributing to this collaborative effort! Classical music is an active, medium-sized project with more than 9,000 articles.
We have a discussion page linked to the main project page where you may sign in. Please take part in our forum! The scope of the project is vast: nearly 1,000 years of history, numerous countries, and many languages. Some music editors use reference books such as the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians, or the German Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart. These are helpful for checking facts and providing the essential references required on Wikipedia. We would greatly appreciate your collaboration in adding sources from these books. However if you don't have access to books, there are still many other ways you can contribute to the project: copyediting, compiling lists of recordings, picture and sound clip researching, etc.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for providing your expertise at En blanc et noir. However, I had to undo your edit because it didn't contain many citable facts, just largely your opinion that scholarship has taken a while to absorb the contents of your book chapter. It would have been better if you could have been more specific, by mentioning the exact Villon poem, the mistaken beliefs about this work/arguments against them, etc. We do have rules on citing yourself in Wikipedia, but I think in this case adding your book chapter is fine, because it seems to be a unique contribution to the scholarship and it was published by a highly reputable publisher, thus making it a reliable source in Wikipedia terms. I'm going to try to get my hands on the essay to read it myself; in the meantime, I've added a pointer to your essay about "En blanc et noir" to the further reading section of the Wikipedia article.
