David Woodward
[edit]A few things:
The messages I left at Cervegnano (talk · contribs) -- which as the listed creator of the page, I assume to be you -- and on the David Woodward page are all from templates: they're boilerplate text describing Wikipedia's copyright policies and actions taken to enforce them. That you chose to interpret them as some sort of insult is regrettable, but I feel no responsibility for those feelings, since I'm merely passing on standard policy.
Also, note what it says at the bottom of each edit window, just above the "Save page" button:
- Content that violates any copyright will be deleted. Encyclopedic content must be verifiable. You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL.
The text wasn't yours, and it wasn't yours to dispose of casually. And, in fact, if it WAS written by your late father, it's still not yours to do with what you will. If you find the copyright requirements burdensome, so be it, but they're necessary for the functioning and continued existence of this project. All you had to do was write, in your own words, an appropriate article. There's even a link on the copyright violation to enable you to do this.
Don't take your frustration out on me, as all I'm doing is the mandated clean-up work. What needs to be done, needs to be done. --Calton | Talk 00:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
