[edit]Hello, I'm Jerodlycett. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Compas, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jerod Lycett (talk) 10:55, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at Compas, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Jerod Lycett (talk) 03:50, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Good morning, It is obvious that the text I published - in support of a brother artist who has never received credit for his work - is not in violation of copyright laws. If you had taken the trouble to read it, you could have seen that I referred to a source which is a Haitian newspaper. Therefore, quoting a published text is not appropriation. To do otherwise would be unauthorized use. I have been profiled - as a musician and producer - by the New York Times and have used this article several times since the source is clearly cited. This is not in violation of any related laws.
Thank you for your attention. Jean Jean-Pierre (NB I am also a journalist). Jjeanpierre11 (talk) 12:39, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi Jjeanpierre11, I noticed your interests in Compas and thought I'd extend the invite to a completely revamped WikiProject Haiti. P.S. Would it be possible for the community to use a free version of Le Nouvelliste? I've noticed it is only by subscription now for full articles Thank you for your contributions with this newspaper. Are you still blocked from Wikipedia? I do not see that you are. Also personally, I would like to see "Compas direct" as the main name of the article. However, it has been a logistical nightmare to do so because of the plethora of spellings and then going by what is considered common name for Wikipedia's standards which indubitably is kompa though "compas" is somehow still holding on (albeit there is no "direct" after it). Artists also have completely dropped the "compas direct" name in favor of simply kompa or konpa as you are already aware. I realize the first is a corruption of both French and Creole and the second is a translation. Personally, I am a big rejecter of proper names being translated. ie. If my name is Jack, please do not spell it "Djak". I always seek the original intended spelling for everything. Please reach out to me for anything in regards to all Haiti-articles.
