2023 United Arab Emirates Storm

[edit]

On August 5th 2023, heavy rain, sandstorms and thunder formed in the United Arab Emirates.[1] Mainly, in Dubai and Sharjah, trees were uprooted and some areas were flooded.[2] This rain was likely caused by cloud seeding as natural rainfall is rare to happen in summer. Wind speeds reached up to around 45kmh (28mph)

Result

[edit]

Thankfully, no causalities were reported. Residents reporting damage to vehicles, home gardens and property. Many fallen trees were reported in neighborhoods, gated communities, side roads and main roads. Dubai Municipality received several hundred emergency reports, they had response teams on standby. When the rain stopped, they started responding. On top of that, Dubai Municipality received requests for rainwater pool draining.[3]
