National Association of Campus Card Users[edit]

Hi, I saw that you moved your sandbox live, however there are some issues with the page that made it necessary for me to move it back to your userspace to User:JordySchaus/National Association of Campus Card Users. These issues are as follows:

  • This needs coverage from independent and reliable sources in order to establish how this association is notable. The association exists and looks to be successful, but neither of these are things that would make it automatically notable - we need things like news stories about the association. I did a quick search and I'm not really certain that this has enough coverage, to be honest.
  • Wikipedia cannot be used to source itself - the reason for this is that since it can be edited by anyone, it'll never have the type of verification and oversight that is needed of a reliable source.
  • Be very cautious with how you describe this in the first lead paragraph. While this wasn't your intent, this comes across as non-neutral, like we're trying to portray the organization in a favorable light. For example, the word 'major' and stating that it has "over 1800 institutional members worldwide" can be seen as us trying to talk up the organization. Here's a way to re-write the lead:
The National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) is an American organization that specializes in campus identification and transaction. Created in 1993, the NACCU held its first conference in February 1994 and has since continued to hold them yearly. These conferences focus on the expansion of knowledge of campus identification and transaction systems through educational sessions, keynote presentations, roundtable discussions and vendor booths. Other topics of focus include changing trends in technology and how to bring more conveniences and services to campus communities.
This puts it a bit more straightforward, while leaving in information about what is is and does.

The main barrier here will be sourcing, as mentioned previously, as I'm not entirely certain that this organization is independently notable. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:38, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
