Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 19:04, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I created this account with my normal user name that I use on other platforms prior to reading the Wikipedia rules for creating a username. That is my fault. No harm was intended. I wanted to create an account so that I could edit the page of Marty Lyons so to have accurate information on his page. I work for his charity foundation and we wanted the information pn his page to be as accurate as possible. I was also interested in creating a page for his foundation as well. I'm a paid employee of his foundation. I understand why I was blocked as it would have seemed like i was making edits as a "sponsored editor" however that is not the case. I'm just trying to be sure all details on this platform for Marty Lyons were accurate and up-to-date. The contributions/edits I intend to make on this platform are to simply be sure information is accurate.

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username would be acceptable. Wikipedia has articles, not pages. This is a subtle but important distinction. Those articles are typically written by independent editors, who summarize what independent reliable sources say about a topic, not what it wants to say about itself. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing- you meet the definition of a paid editor. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, make edits related to your conflict of interest. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics unrelated to your conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 23:19, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
