Your changes to the Proclaimers page[edit]

While the alterations you've made to The Proclaimers' page may be factually correct, one issue other editors are likely to have with your editing of this article is your claim that you are the group's manager. Your editing history suggests you have only edited this page on Wikipedia, so you may not be aware that one of the guidelines for editing articles is that you should ideally not be too closely connected to the article topic, as this can create a conflict of interest - i.e., you shouldn't contribute to articles about yourself, your company, a company or group you manage etc, because it means your edits may not be neutral. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and hence it is different from a press release or an autobiography. Furthermore, your edits have removed references that were cited in the article.

Are there secondary sources that could be cited to support the changes you have made to the article? If the Proclaimers have an official website, for example, the information you want to add or change to the article could be posted there, and (ideally) another editor could reference information from the article, assuming it is a reliable source. This would be preferable to you, someone closely associated with the band, making unreferenced changes to the article - even if the information is correct.

You may be better off requesting changes to be made to the article on the article's talk page.Nqr9 (talk) 13:05, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
