Photos in articles

[edit]

Hi again. I noticed that a lot of the fair-use photos you uploaded for your articles were grainy scans from old books. Did you know about the incredible resource http://goskatalog.ru/portal/#/ ? It has lots of high-quality originals of historic photos. They have literally thousands of high-res portraits of generals that were recently uploaded to the archive. Since you write biographies of generals a lot, the resource could be very useful for your articles. I am under the impression you are unaware of it. The only downside is that you have to do all the searches in Russian (and sometimes use different keyword combinations to find exactly what you need), but other than that, it is amazing. I use it a lot to upload fair-use photos for Russian Wikipedia, and I'm sure you will want to use it in the future.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 16:52, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't when I wrote most of those articles but after you used it as a source I've used it as an external link to copyrighted ship photographs. Kges1901 (talk) 22:25, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
