Lie to Me

[edit]

Hi... with respect to your note, Wikipedia doesn't cover fan campaigns when a series is cancelled, unless the campaign becomes significant enough to generate independent notability. A few thousand people signing a Facebook page doesn't fit that requirement; it happens quite frequently. Please let me know what other articles you are referring to, so that I can see what you're comparing. Thanks in advance. --Ckatzchatspy 21:38, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What about saying: This has prompted fans to start a campaign to urge Fox to reconsider its decision. Without any references? And what about petition pages? Wouldn't a petition page with thousands of signatures qualify as something? (Kovesdijr (talk) 21:46, 16 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]
No, sorry, it is established convention that we don't report on these things. The campaign for Jericho was covered because it became large-scale, and received considerable coverage in mainstream media beyond simple mentions in entertainment press. Similarly, the fan support for Firefly grew beyond a simple desire to restore a show and took on a life of its own. For most shows, however, the pattern is simple: show is cancelled, fans post a Facebook page, nothing happens. Sad (if you enjoy the series) but not encyclopaedic. --Ckatzchatspy 21:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I understand, So http://www.savelietome.com/ wouldn't qualify either I'm guessing? I won't say which show, but there is another show page on Wikipedia that has the same quote and has a facebook group and a similar website as references, so its just the matter of time until somebody finds that and deletes it also? I'm going to check Jericho and Firefly and see what can be done to get back on Wikipedia. (Kovesdijr (talk) 21:59, 16 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Unless a campaign achieves a massive amount of support, you're unlikely to see it return. Simply put, Wikipedia is here to present encyclopaedic coverage of the topic, not to serve as a fan page and promote a campaign. Again, it is sad that fans miss the show, but the efforts for renewal are better spent in areas other than Wikipedia. --Ckatzchatspy 08:13, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
