Kusal K.DAS (b.1962) is working as a Professor of Physiology in Al Ameen Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka, India. The major area of research carried out in Prof. Das’s laboratory is based on three heavy metals like nickel, chromium and lead. Currently Prof.Das’s laboratory is engaged in doing research on lead induced cellular hypoxia. The study is also carrying out to understand the heavy metal activated hypoxia inducible pathway and facilitate selection of cells with altered transcriptional activity of hypoxia inducible genes. Prof.Das is having more than eighty indexed original and review articles in his credit. He has also contributed chapters in two international specialized books on metals and has written a book on nickel toxicities which is published from Germany. He is a recipient “Prof.Shakuntala Dasgupta Memorial Gold Medal” awarded by the Physiological Society of India. Prof.Das is a Regular Member of the American Physiological Society. He is the ‘Editor in Chief’ of Al Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences [ISSN 0974-1143], an indexed quarterly journal of medicine and Editorial Member/Advisor of five international and four national journals including Elsevier journals.
