List of Order of the Arrow national events

[edit]

Thank You for finding out that the Japeechen lodge page had been lost, I restored the URL from the archived archive.org and put that as the OH named ref, but left the National history page as well as another ref. If you think the current national History page is superior, feel free to flip flop which has the name of OH and which is OH1. Ideally for more of these events we'd have secondary sources like newspaper articles.Naraht (talk) 14:15, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Bumbled way through. Glad you found truth. Was looking for Vigils which do not seem to have been recorded in event minutes. I have run across NY newspaper accounts related to some of the events and will add when I get a chance. Hail from Alpha Chi of APhiO.Kwiggers (talk) 21:06, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome! There are also a few Heavily scout oriented editors that I've talked to (Most of which watch WP:SCOUT ). There is a little bit of stuff here on Alpha Phi Omega that I've done. (After 4 years in Region V and 25 as an alumnus in Region III, I'm completely neutral in the abbreviation. :) )(APO/APhiO/APhiQue). Still missing some information on the dates of the Grand Lodge meetings (prior to WWII). Any ideas on where to find them?Naraht (talk) 00:03, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fulton History is a website I have used to research many online newspaper archives for local lodge information. I am presuming that the owner of the website is a) only presenting those papers/editions which are either not copyrighted or are passed their date and b) that he is not retaining any rights. He has a big blurb on his site related to copyrights and what one can and cannot use in one's research in a general sense in order to be helpful to the average user. I found the following article related to the 1931 Grand Lodge meeting: http://www.fultonhistory.com/highlighter/viewer/?file=http%3A%2F%2Ffultonhistory.com%2FNewspaper%25208%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%25201931%2520Grayscale%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%25201931%2520Grayscale%2520-%25205143.pdf&highlightsFile=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fultonhistory.com%2Fhighlighter%2Fhits%2Fa5985cf8eccbfa5753a48b308088e3d7#page=1 . [ From the September 10, 1931, Schenechtady Gazette] The meeting to be held from September 11 to September 13. I found a second article from the same site published the following Tuesday confirming that the event took place: http://www.fultonhistory.com/highlighter/viewer/?file=http%3A%2F%2Ffultonhistory.com%2FNewspaper%25208%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%25201931%2520Grayscale%2FSchenectady%2520NY%2520Gazette%25201931%2520Grayscale%2520-%25205255.pdf&highlightsFile=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fultonhistory.com%2Fhighlighter%2Fhits%2F0c1cf375e842e664a090a79e574346f9#page=1 Kwiggers (talk) 01:41, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think the reference for 1931 was November is at https://web.archive.org/web/20120222125020/http://www.kittatinny5.org/minsihistory.htm . But the newspaper seems more accurate and for short facts like date/location of an event, IMO, copyright is largely irrelevant. If you want to change that date with these references that would be great... And there are a *boatload* of links that need to be recovered using archive.org the way that I did with the one for Japeechen. You can mark them by adding {{dead link}} immediately after the </ref> after the ones that are dead or you can try fixing them yourself if you want. Naraht (talk) 03:55, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
