Hi, this image: Image:Sanctuary Teaser Trailer Title.jpg Just to let you know, you will have to reduce the resolution and add fair use rationale for the image to be legal... Reply to me on my talk pageCheers—Illyria05 RingContrib. 13:11, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay, cool, forget what I said then :) Cheers—Illyria05 RingContrib. 16:30, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The below is a copy of the discussion on Talk:Webisode I (Sanctuary), I'm providing here as record for you after the discussion is deleted. Someguy1221 18:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marked for Deletion?

[edit]

Why was this page marked for deletion? There appears to be no justification given in the edit summary. There are similar pages given for episodes of many other series. Why should this be any different? --Lachlan Hunt 12:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this page is significant because it provides useful information about an episode of a series, including its writer, director, guest cast, release date, etc. along with a detailed synopsis of the episode. It provides equivalent information to that provided by pages for other TV series episodes and films. --Lachlan Hunt 12:46, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The issue here is likely that this is a "Webisode" as opposed to an episode of a TV show. Shows broadcast on major stations are often assumed to have some form of inherent notability, but the same does not hold for webcasts. Someguy1221 18:17, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about the fact that this show is created by very notable people like Damian Kindler and Martin Wood, and has an ensemble cast including Amanda Tapping, David Hewlett, and others. These people are well known cast and crew from Stargate. This is not just some low budget, amateur series – it's a broadcast quality, professional series done by notable professionals. It is by choice that their primary distribution method is directly to customers via the internet, instead of more traditional means. They have stated that it is entirely possible that the show could be broadcast on TV and distributed on DVD, etc. in the future, but have no immediate plans to do so. I understand the policy is to avoid having articles about, for example, some insignificant series on YouTube created someone with a handycam, but that is certainly not what Sanctuary is. Sanctuary

[edit]

The image you uploaded was from the end (and not from the beginning intertitle), standard practice on Wikipedia is to use the title screen from the introduction titles. For example see Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis. "If it's regarding copyright, you should be aware that screenshots are permitted", Wikipedia's policies and guidelines prohibit high-resolution/high-quality non-free imagery (see WP:NFCC), so we must use web resolution images. "I've asked them to clarify the copyright license", unfortunately we can't use high-quality "with permission" images, this is because Wikipedia can be forked (and so people who fork Wikipedia will not have permission). Hope this clears it up. have a good afternoon, Matthew 15:59, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yea, the Stargate ones are a bit big at present (I'll resize them sometime - if I remember, hehe) - that was just an example of the opening portion usage. If they'll release an image under a GFDL compatible license... well that would be marvelous, I certainly wouldn't complain! Orphaned non-free image (Image:Sanctuary Teaser Trailer Title.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sanctuary Teaser Trailer Title.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aksibot 23:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article Stage 3 Media has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (media) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
