It was an impressive piece of music. Certainly worth the time spent listening to it though it is somewhat patchy. I don't particularly like what Wright has done to Radio 3 but his programming on successive days of two works often regarded as too big to perform is an improvement on Kenyon's Proms.--Peter cohen (talk) 00:48, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

William Tell performance history additions[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for your additions to the article.

Personally, I find that a long string of an online copy from the URL rather off-putting, since it tells no one about the author, publication, date, etc.

So, I ammended your a couple of your ref links to follow this pattern:

< ref > - then a bracket [ then the http:// etc etc. Leave a space and then follow with author, publication, whatever...followed by a closing bracket ] and then the < /ref > (I'm using spaces here around the "ref" so you can see the contents)

You'll see that it looks a lot better and is more informative.

Thanks Viva - you're right, that does look a lot better. Hopefully I'll get the hang of this quickly, and that's really helpful. Working on an expansion of the synopsis as I re-listen to the recording - will try and post some of it later (would be great if you or another experienced editor could check it at some point after.)

Haha yeah - sorry about that - gave me the perfect excuse to listen again on a wet sunday afternoon. Do make any improvements you can think of though! Nothing about Britten in the booklet, or Grove that I can see. How was Gothic? Came across an interesting discrepancy regarding what century this was set in (13th or 14th - waiting to hear back from Viva...). John Osborn (tenor)[edit]

Hi. I came upon the above article and have made some additions. A few things that you may not have absorbed yet:

Obviously, you spotted that he's not the only John Osborn around, and you added the correct qualifier, too. What you didn't do was to add him to the John Osborn disambiguation page. I've done that and moved the entries around to make them look tidier. You might have a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages).
Categories: the Opera Project doesn't use Category:American male singers or other analogous categories - the usual thing is two operatic categories, in this case Category:Operatic tenors and Category:American opera singer stubs. The latter is a sub-category of Category:American opera singers, and so putting Osborn in both categories is unnecessary over-categorisation. If/when the article expands, the latter can be swapped for the former. Hope you can understand this - categories make a lot of people's heads swim! More on operatic categories (and stub categories) at Wikipedia:WPO#Categories.
Talk page: when starting a new article on opera, it's useful to put the Opera Project's banner {{Opera}} on the Talk page. I've now done that for Osborn, and added the Stub parameter.
If you want to, you could add more to the article - Osborn's roles, the (important) opera houses where he's sung, future plans, whatever, but I'd advise selectivity, plus it's important not to cut-and-paste or copy verbatim from his biographies or it may be regarded as a WP:COPYVIO.
