Editing with a COI

[edit]

Hi Laura - I'm Girth Summit, an administrator here. I see from the history of this page that another user has spoken with you about editing with a conflict of interest, and I thank you for making the disclosure that you have on your user page. However, you haven't actually spelled out the nature of your affiliation with ARTE. Please note that there are related but distinct requirements for paid contributors, and those with 'regular' COIs: for details, please review WP:PAID and WP:COI. If you are employed by ARTE in any way, the PAID policy applies to you, and you must adhere to its requirements as part of the Terms of Use of this website. Please can I ask that you are explicit about the nature of your connection?

Please can I further ask that, when you want to add one of your organisation's films as a citation in an article, you do so using an edit request on the relevant article's talk page? That way an uninvolved editor will assess the suggestion and decide whether or not the change is appropriate; you will also avoid any accusations of WP:CITESPAM. Thank you. Hi Girth, thank you for reaching out to me. I updated my talk page according to the Wikipedia standards. My affiliation with ARTE derives from doing an internship there, therefore, it classifies as paid-contribution disclosure. I will follow your advice to use edit requests – moreover, I would like to point out that I will only edit articles that are not directly related to ARTE i.e. ARTE does not economically benefit from my edits. I will therefore refrain from editing any pages related to ARTE as a company, ARTE’s projects or any other connections. ARTE is a public channel, which means that the contents available on arte.tv are for free and accessible for everyone. The goal on Wikipedia is to distribute the knowledge gathered through documentaries in order to enhance the depth and breadth of Wikipedia’s articles. Therefore, I would like to enrich the content of certain articles with verifiable and certified information.
