Help me!

[edit]

I am trying to edit the name of our page, Country Day School of the Sacred Heart to Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr. The edits in the body are there, but the title is incorrect. I am not sure about if this means I need to move the page. This is all very confusing. Can you help? Please help me with... Change title of page Country Day School of the Sacred Heart to the new school name: Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_Day_School_of_the_Sacred_Heart Lbrairton (talk) 18:07, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the article to the title you requested. However, you should be aware of a few other points. Since you evidently work for the school Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline discourages you from editing the article about it. Clearly for simple factual corrections or updates, such as correcting the name of the school, someone who works for the school is likely to know what is right, and there is unlikely to be any controversy, but for anything more significant there can be problems. The main, though not only, reason for that is that experience over the years indicates that editors with such a connection to a subject they are writing about are likely to find it very difficult, or even impossible, to stand back from their writing and see how it will look from the detached perspective of an outsider, so that they are likely to write in ways that look promotional to others, even if they sincerely think they are writing in a neutral way. Also, if your editing forms all or part of work for which you are paid, whether as an employee, as a contractor, or in any other capacity, the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use require you to state who is paying you, and what your connection to them is. I suggest you read the conflict of interest guideline if you have not already done so.
Some of the past editing of the article has certainly not been neutral. language such as "committed to serving all families who wish their daughters to receive an excellent academic, values-based education that fosters growth in mind, body, and spirit" belongs in the school's marketing literature, not in an encyclopaedia article, and that clearly underlines the point about conflict of interest editing. Wikipedia is not a tool for marketing or "PR". The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 20:43, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm BrownHairedGirl. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 05:23, 8 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
