[edit]Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Scott Tattar. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:02, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I suggest you have a look at the general notability guideline and the notability guideline for people as first steps to seeing what is required for an article about a person. The guideline on reliable sources is also relevant. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:22, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
May I request the hangon template as I gather more sources from reliable news outlets in the area and add them to the article? Thank you. (talk)
- If the article is tagged for speedy deletion then you can add a hangon tag and give your reason for opposing deletion on the article's talk page. However, a hangon tag merely calls attention to the fact that you have a reason for opposing deletion: it does not in itself prevent deletion. It is far better to get at least some evidence of notability before you create the article. The first draft of an articel does not have to be perfect or totally finished, but it should at least give some indication of significance. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:54, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Please stop using {{talkback}} in section headers. dffgd talk·edits 15:38, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
Got it, thank you. Levlanepr (talk) 15:47, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I made another biography of a living person and it was deleted even after I listed more than enough references for the relevance of his biography on Wikipedia. What do you suggest I do differently because this seems to be an ongoing issue and the biography in question is on an important advertising and public relations figure in Philadelphia?
- Specifically its not what you are saying, but how you are saying it. The articles really must be neutral in tone, and I think you did a good job on the Scott Tattar rewrite. So in essence, no this will not be an issue if you don't write PR copy. If you do, and continue to do so after being advised not to, it won't be a problem because we'll block you from editing (which is what would have happened already if I hadn't seen the more neutral tone on Tattar's article). I don't think I can stress strongly enough that because of your association with this firm you should not be writing these articles. Syrthiss (talk) 15:12, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of David A. Lane
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on David A. Lane, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of David A. Lane and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Syrthiss (talk) 14:55, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
. Thank you. Syrthiss (talk) 14:57, 16 August 2010 (UTC)The article Scott Tattar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidecne of notability. sources cited are not independent, or do not give substantial coverage, or both. Article was written by COI editor as promotion.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:04, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
