Sohyang[edit]

Hi Lionpos! I just posted this question on the Talk page of the Sohyang article and was wondering if you can help:

Does anyone know what kind of Christian Sohyang is? Is she Protestant or Catholic? Or Orthodox? And if Protestant, which denomination? I’d like to specify in the article if anyone has a source.

Thanks for your help in improving this great article! WikiEditorial101 (talk) 20:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WikiEditorial101,

to my knowledge Sohyang is protestant. I don't know what demoniation and right now I do not have a source except the knowledge passed on to me by korean people. I will look further into finding a source tomorrow, even though I am pretty confident that she is protestant.

Thanks alot!

Lionpos (talk) 20:20, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Lionpos! The source is only my secondary concern, as I just wanted to get the best known information first, and then worry about sources afterward. Have you by any chance heard what denomination of protestant she is? Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal? Or does she belong to a non-denominational church?

I recently found out about Sohyang after finding a video on YouTube of her rendition of “O Holy Night” on I Am a Singer 2, which left me in tears! I converted the live performance into an MP3 just for my personal listening on my phone, and I’ve been listening to it almost everyday for a few weeks now, and it’s become one of my go-to praise and worship songs. I used to think that Lydia Canaan had the best singing voice of all time, but then I heard Sohyang! When she hits certain notes, it supernaturally transcends actual sound waves and becomes something else altogether, something spiritual that deeply touches the soul! I’ve honestly never heard anything like it! God has given her such an amazing gift, and I know that He has used it to reach so many people! Including me! Hey WikiEditorial101,

I am so happy that you found out about Sohyang. Ive known her since 2015 and currently have 51 mp3 files of her songs on my phone that I listen to daily! She truly has an incredibly voice and her humble personality is so sweet. You should really check out more of her songs! I recommend the songs she sang in her competition shows (I created the tables you see on her page). Especially Hug Me and Breathe from King of Masked Singer and You Raise Me Up from Immortal Songs. My guess would be that she is baptist but I am very unsure about this information so it'd be better to leave that part out for now if you add more information. I will ask for more information tomorrow. Thank you! Lionpos (talk) 20:48, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely check out those songs. And great job on those charts! Speaking of charts, I wanted to make a chart for the Discography section, but I’m just beginning to learn about that stuff and don’t yet know how to make one from scratch (I’ve cloned chart templates and sightly modified them for use in other articles, but that’s about it). And I can’t find a Discography chart template that includes track listings! Can you make one? WikiEditorial101 (talk) 21:02, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey,

I am also not that experienced with charts and have been trying to create one for her discography. I am pretty satisfied with ghe charts I made on her filmography so I will try my best on creating one tomorrow! Lionpos (talk) 21:06, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, cool 😊 WikiEditorial101 (talk) 04:48, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was finally able to find the right charts! Take a look at Sohyang! And if you know any of it, can you please fill in the missing information for who wrote each song and also the track and album lengths? And if you speak Korean, can you also translate the Korean titles into English (as this is an English article and (ideally) only her name at the top of the intro should appear in Korean if possible)? Thanks! WikiEditorial101 (talk) 01:42, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help with the article, good job. One thing though—the section of the chart labeled “Writer(s)” is for what person or persons wrote the lyrics to the song; we know that these are POS tracks (meaning that we know that POS is the band that performed these tracks), but what is being asked is who is the songwriter credited for each? In other words, you have to find out if Sohyang herself wrote the lyrics for “I’m Always With You”, or did her drummer/husband, or maybe both. For example, the Beatles wrote many songs, and each song is a Beatles song, but if you look to see who the songwriter is for each individual song, sometimes one band member is credited with writing the words to an individual song, while other times a different band member is the one who wrote it (and sometimes it’s two of them who wrote the lyrics together). Understand now? This is how things are done in the music industry worldwide. I would research to find the info myself, but I don’t speak Korean so I can’t. I presume that Sohyang wrote most if not all of the lyrics to all of the POS songs, perhaps with some imput from another band member on one or two of the songs, maybe not. But no reason for me to speculate, go find out for sure. Remember, this is about the song lyrics (words of the songs), not the music. I know that you probably think that I am bothering you, but I want this particular article to be correct and look good! Thanks! WikiEditorial101 (talk) 16:17, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I do not think you are annoying at all. I want this article to be as detailed and correct as possible too, hence why I have been working on it for so many months now. Sadly, I do not have any sources on who has written the lyrics for every single song which is why I credited the whole band because Sohyang has mentioned that they work on every song together, including composing lyrics together, creating melodies and everything. She has called every song a "family project". Thanks for your input on the charts. Together we made them look very good but sadly there is no furhter information present to us than what we have here! Hi Lionpos!
