Another problem regarding {{WPBiography}}
I'm a bit late here with this gripe, but edits like this are not good. The project's A-Class department may be inactive, but the |A-Class=
parameter should have been retained for future reference. As the relevent categories have since been deleted, it will now be necessary to recreate and repopulate them. PC78 (talk) 16:16, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have just notoced that the talk page of Kurt Schuschnigg was blanked by whatever you did to it on 28 June 2009. I have now restored the page as I am certain it wasn't your intention to delete the page history. 3ig-350125 (talk) 10:28, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- That wasn't the bot, it was an IP vandal blanking the page on 8 March. PC78 (talk) 10:43, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply. The bot is designed to remove any parameters that aren't supported by the template. A-Class is one of them. This should probably be replaced with class=A instead. Mikaey, Devil's advocate 19:13, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- The parameter is supported by the template. That's the problem. I've repopulated the categories, but this shouldn't happen again. PC78 (talk) 19:29, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- Would you mind updating the documentation then? There's no mention of it in there anywhere. Mikaey, Devil's advocate 19:34, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I've added the A-Class paramater to the documentation. What exactly is the bot doing when you say it's "designed to remove any parameters that aren't supported by the template"? PC78 (talk) 19:50, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I've got a list of the parameters hardcoded into the bot. They were taken from {{WPBiography}}'s documentation. Anything that's not in the list gets dropped. (However, if the bot can make a reasonable determination that a parameter is not supported because it is a spelling error, it will correct it.) Mikaey, Devil's advocate 19:53, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- What about
|importance=
,|baronets-work-group=
and|military-task-force=
? These are accepted by the banner as alternatives to|priority=
,|peerage-work-group=
and|military-work-group=
respectively, so they shouldn't be removed either.|nested=
on the other hand is fully deprecated, so your bot can safely remove that if it isn't doing so already. PC78 (talk) 20:15, 12 September 2009 (UTC)- The bot is already programmed to change
|importance=
over to|priority=
.|baronets-work-group=
is recognized by the bot (if you look, it's on the list). And I'll add in to have the bot change|military-task-force=
over to|military-work-group=
. Mikaey, Devil's advocate 20:23, 12 September 2009 (UTC)- Cheers! FYI, the banner is due for an update in the near future and there will almost certainly be some changes with regard to parameters. If I can think on, I'll let you know here when it happens. PC78 (talk) 20:30, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- Much appreciated, thanks! Mikaey, Devil's advocate 20:36, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
