Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, MKilbrideston. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Tom Winsor, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. jcc (tea and biscuits) 18:08, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Hello MKilbrideston and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Tom Winsor, do not conform to our policies. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

Hello, I'm Jcc. I noticed that you recently removed content from Tom Winsor without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. jcc (tea and biscuits) 18:09, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]I've pasted in the templates you see above to give you some important links to read as your first edits committed a number of errors (namely: copyright violations, white-washing, and the addition of unsourced content) on a biography of a living person, which we take especially seriously due to the legal consequences involved. Please read all the templates and pages they link to, and respond if you have a conflict of interest (a condition of our terms of use). It sounds harsh, but it's important to note now that if you continue this behaviour, you may be blocked from editing. jcc (tea and biscuits) 18:13, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
