Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests, and I noticed that your username, "Maghilleditorial", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 01:18, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

December 2017[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Orange Mike | Talk 04:55, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Matt Proman is a personal friend of mine. He asked me to fix the Wiki page that already existed about him. It was created a long time ago and contains outdated, incorrect information that would be harmful to him as a successful businessmen about to embark on a new venture. All I did was update information. I wasn't the one who created the initial page, which had been standing for quite some time. I'm not sure why the changes I made, which I went out of my way to ensure were neutral and fact-based, were deleted. What I went in and deleted the second time were personal attacks on his character, calling him a scam-artist. That's unfounded defamation and has no place on a wiki page. I realize that I erred in using a user name that appeared to be a business entity. I do run an agency, but the only reason I created the account that way was because it seemed so different than any edits I might make to wiki pages relating to personal interests such as National Parks, Gone With the Wind, primate species and Disney attractions and history. That was my mistake. Like I said, I wasn't trying to do anything other than update information that was no longer correct. The old page stated that Matt was still associated with a company he hasn't worked for in several years, for example. That's deleterious information, and changing it doesn't seem to violate any standards. I respectfully request that once I am unblocked and my user name changed, that most, if not all, of the edits I made be restored.

Decline reason:

If you honestly think that you did nothing other than "update information that was no longer correct" and that your editing was "neutral", then you are very unlikely to be able to edit objectively, as a large proportion of your editing was unambiguously promotional. To unblock you to continue to edit about your client is out of the question, especially since you have expressly stated that your intention is to restore most or even all of the edits you made before. They were removed because you provided absolutely no references to back them up. Anything about a living person on Wikipedia that lacks a source and could potentially be challenged needs to be sourced or it will be removed. That's also why his page is now a redirect as opposed to an article. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:01, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
