Article Evaluation

[edit]

I reviewed the article on Small Appliances. During my article evaluation I noticed that the article does not state the pros and cons of buying small appliances, thus I find the article not balanced well since not all significant aspects are covered, such as the pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages of small appliances), no information about it. Advantages and Disadvantages of buying small kitchen appliances There are many advantages of buying small appliances. We buy small appliances because they are time savers. An example is the food processor, where we can put in the flour, cold diced butter, salt, baking powder, baking soda, eggs, sugar and the cake batter is done in less than 30 second. The food processor save effort, as there is no need for muscle stirring, flipping and labor for long in the kitchen. Small appliances also inspire creativity. Like the crock pot where one can mix veggies and meat for a sumptuous meal cooked slowly while the person is away from home. Finally, by using small appliances, a person could avoid common kitchen scenarios such as cluttering, washing of many dirty dishes, and pans, cleaning the stove from oil spills, and burns. The invention of small appliances like is a convenient and efficient way to cook especially to people who are busy and do not like to stay in the kitchen for hours.

Buying small appliances have its own disadvantages too. They take up space on the kitchen counter and require thorough cleaning before putting it back to storage. Small appliances are designed for quick cooking, and could not cook large amounts of food at once, fitting less food items inside them, in limited capacity. They are more convenient for single person use and not for big families. As some small appliances could require high voltage power capacity such as microwave ovens and portable ovens, they could consume the same amount of electricity as big appliances with less capacity. Small appliances have shorter life span than big heavy-duty appliances. Therefore, small appliances could be considered as not cost efficient.
