Cites

[edit]

This article is in desperate need of citations, I know. At the moment it probably seems like a jumble of crackpot theories generated through original research. Hopefully though it can be seen where we're trying to go with this subject. I encourage AfD participants to give this article the time it needs to get those citations and take a more encyclopedic form. Canderson7 03:52, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for cleaning this up: I've revoked my "delete" vote, and hopefully others will also reconsider. Presumably you're trying to position this as a general overview of the subject, with OCP as the theoretical background, First contact and Alien Invasion as detailed explorations of individual consequences, and so on? Seems viable.
In fact, I think the material on religious reactions should go back in. There's a large enough body of work on the religious implications of alien life to make it verifiable. For example, C.S. Lewis' discussion of possible interactions between Christianity and alien religions. Do we have a detailed article on the subject to link to? — Haeleth Talk 11:18, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking the time to reconsider your vote. You're correct about the general goal of this article, that it become an overview of this subject. One issue that needs to be addresses is that it and First contact have very similar content (although this article goes into more detail), although their subject matters are somewhat different.
If you have cites for the religious reactions, you're welcome to put that part back in. I only removed because I could not verify it. I don't know if there is an article that takes an in-depth look at that subject, but a brief search failed to turn one up. Canderson7 15:03, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible to combine all of these articles with this article, so that, should there be alien contact, people will know what to expect, should it be hostile, friendly, how the different nations will respond to alien contact, deal with any resultant rebellions incurred by the implementation of the Robertson Panel and the Brookings Report, other similar programs, rebellions caused by religious reasons, such as those posed by the religious fundamentalists, such as "What aliens, these things are of The Devil and that it is Satan's Minions we're dealing with.", possible 2nd contact, maybe by the enemies of the aliens that had contacted Earth ?Martial Law 22:25, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Found a source that actually implies that UFOs/Aliens are "of The Devil". Should there be alien contact, these people just may revolt. This source is Bible Life's view on UFOs/Aliens. The source is http//:www.biblelife.org , a religious site that does imply that UFOs/Aliens ARE "of The Devil, and cites certain Biblical passages AS proof.Martial Law 04:11, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The reason that other people just may rebel against all authority is both theRobertson Panel and the Brookings Report, both allegedly designed to actually ridicule/disrespect any and all who has had a UFO/Alien encounter. This is why that, should there be alien contact, Martial Law will be implemented, the media censored, even the Internet will be censored by govt. and military forces, ostensibly to prevent a rebellion in reaction to alien contact. The various UFO groups will either be forcibly shut down or "commandeered" by military and govt. forces as persuant to preventing any trouble. Sources for these may be classified, but may be "leaked" from time to time, such as what happened when a US Army Sgt, Stone was courts-martialled for allegedly violating the Military Code of Justice, releasing classified material. That material was all UFO related.Martial Law 04:22, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
