Hi Jesse,
Thank you for your edits. I did not realize you weren't really supposed to edit the page if a press secretary for the individual so I apologize. We were trying to add information we felt important to the public and delete info that was not sourced or confirmed such as: DiNapoli worked as an aide for Assemblyman Angelo F. Orazio. He also served as a District Representative for Congressman Robert J. Mrazek. We didn't know where it came from or the dates. Also, most people don't know what the Comptroller does so we were trying to get that closer to the top or included in the service area. It says: As Comptroller, DiNapoli makes periodic, public reports on a variety of issues affecting state, local, and charitable agencies, but this isn't really accurate. Thanks for your help! I also sent the headshot to the appropriate emails this time granting access for Wikipedia and users to use across platforms in perpetuity. Hopefully this helps, sorry about that! Learning here as I go! Mary Mueller (talk) 22:48, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also wondering, is there an issue with adding the 2018 and 2022 election table results of all candidates? I noticed they were deleted. thank you! Mary Mueller (talk) 22:55, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply and your fair questions. Yes, I agree that a lot of the article could be corrected and more info added to it. I don't have particular problems with any of your suggestions, only request that everything follow the MOS and other guidelines, and there be no copyright violations, including text from the NYS website explaining the function of the Comptroller or photographs (which can be licensed, for use under CC but still retained ownership by the Office or State or whomever), but stuff like the election tables is unambiguously solid content for an elected official.
The other current issue is that since you do have the COI, your edits may be seen as promotional. The best bet is to put your requests in the article talk page, for best results in an "change X to Y" or "add/remove Z". In smaller targeted batches as well, like per section heading rather than all of the changes you previously made at once. More info in the section below this one about managing a COI. Thanks! Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mary Mueller. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Thomas DiNapoli, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

Hi Mary, many of your edits were good, but a few were a little too fawning. I didn't look up the first batch, just trimmed the fat, but the next batch clearly were more promotional and a quick lookup of your username indicated you were very likely the same person who would have a professional interest in "improving" the WP page of the Comptroller. Please follow the above notes and make your requests on the Talk page, note this may take longer than just editing yourself, but failure to do so will likely result in no changes that you are trying to make getting through. Cheers, JesseRafe (talk) 13:49, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
