Speedy deletion nomination of Mark A. Thomsen

[edit]

Hello Matt.thomsen,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mark A. Thomsen for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. geordie (talk) 19:38, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I thought it showed some indications of plausible importance, but I am not sure whether it will amount to actual notability. What the article must have is references (normally reviews of performances) providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. See WP:N, and also WP:Autobiography. If you have such references , it will also need rewriting so it seems less like a resumé. To start with, don;t use his name so much-- He is the best substitute, and combine the material into longer paragraphs. I advise you to fix the problems, and do this very quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process. DGG ( talk ) 20:14, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update and References

[edit]

DGG, I've reworded and shifted the article to get rid of the resume-like flow. As for citations, they may take a bit of time to collect. Mr. Thomsen's web page has references to reviews at http://www.markthomsen.com/reviews.shtml, but many of the articles may be one or two decades old. I'll have to see if a lexis search or the microfiche section of my local library can narrow down the quotes to specific issues of the various publications mentioned. I'd like to plead for leniency on this particular aspect while I gather the specific citations.

Trip to LOC

[edit]

I will be driving to the Library of Congress on the weekend of May 3, 2014. I should be able to find a large number of support citations for the Mark A. Thomsen article in their periodical archives.

Edit: Trip complete. I got there a bit later than planned, but managed to get my reader card and just over a dozen good citations using ProQuest. Too bad that service isn't available outside of major libraries.
