Viral video

Thank you for your excellent additions to the Viral video article; you've made a major improvement. If I may ask, is this part of a class project? I just noticed a large number of well-written edits from new users today, which often is typical of a class assignment. If that is the case, that's entirely fine (in fact, we encourage it!) but it would be good for us to know so that everyone can cooperate with you. Thank you for the clarification. Regarding your latest addition, I unfortunately had to remove it because it does not meet Wikipedia's policy of no original research: articles are not allowed to have essay-like synthesis or original analysis. I understand that this sort of analysis is probably expected of you for the project, but unfortunately it is not permitted under Wikipedia's content guidelines (for more information, see WP:What Wikipedia is not). If this will pose you a problem for finishing your project, you are welcome to have your professor send me a message, either through my talk page or by my e-mail politzerahless at gmail dot com.

To be on the safe side, it might be better to post it at the article's talk page first (Talk:Viral video) and see what other editors think. If it's original analysis or speculation they probably won't accept it. If there is a published article describing some notable person's opinion about the future of viral videos, that could be included (but it shouldn't be a blog, since blogs are generally not reliable sources). rʨanaɢ ^talk/_contribs 02:08, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, no... we are only allowed to use reliable sources, and Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. Plus, Wikipedia articles are always changing, so if you add a reference today there's no guarantee the information will still be the same several months from now. rʨanaɢ ^talk/_contribs 02:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I have removed the Future and Presidental elections sections from the article and copied them to the talk page (along with an explanation of why I don't think they should be included). If you think they should be restored, you may leave your arguments at Talk:Viral_video#Sections_removed_from_article.
