Michael Jordan Business Ventures

Michael Jordan has not only been a successful, multi-sport professional athlete, but a flourishing businessman who strives to be the best at anything and everything that interests him. In 2010 he was named to the Forbe's Celebrity 100 list and ranked at #20, right behind Rush Limbaugh. His current pay is $55 million and he has recently become the majority shareholder in the Charlotte Bobcats. Even after his career ended, Michael Jordan still has endorsements with Hanes, Upper Deck and Gatorade. He also owns the Brand Jordan, which generates a sales revenue of over $1 billion for his partner Nike.

Although Michael Jordan has had much success in the NBA, not all of his business ventures followed in suit. While Michael had a plethora of successful business ideas, not all of them worked out as well as planned. There were many restaurants in which Michael opened, but eventually closed down. Even though all of his ventures did not succeed, everyone that did business with Michael knew that he would expect nothing less than great and that he would be able to influence others into following his footsteps. "When Pat Pascarella, who owned Michael Jordan Nissan with the basketball star for a decade, told him the team didn't meet on Tuesdays, Jordan said, "P-Squared, how many times have you seen the Chicago Bulls just come out and play?" Pascarella recalled. "We've got sales meetings every day." read more. Michael Jordan always carried the highest standard for himself and all those working with him. Ms. Pascarella, who accepted a buyout in 1998, even went as far as saying, "If MJ called me today and told me to get him a car or walk off a plank, I'd do it for him. He builds that sort of loyalty."

In 2004, Michael Jordan Motorsports was created. This was Michael's attempt to step outside his comfort zone and begin his new venture into ownership of a professional sports team. The average Michael Jordan fan might not know this, but MJ was fascinated by motorcycles and the sport as a whole. After 7 years of success and taking gold in AMA Superstock and Superbike Championships, MJ can finally feel accomplished in the "motorsports" community. Even though he felt successful, as usual he expected more from himself and decided to take on a bigger sport. The sport that he grew up playing and mastered, basketball. In 2010 Michael Jordan became the majority owner of one of the youngest expansion teams in the NBA, the Charlotte Bobcats. Using similar techniques he acquired from his experience as a businessman, Michael Jordan continues to strive with success.

Many know Michael Jordan as the greatest basketball player of all time, but what they don't know is that he applies the same work he used in his basketball career his life. He is a living example of success in every aspect of life. He has successfully conquered the NBA as a player and owner (first in NBA history), owned a motorcycle racing team, played professional baseball, created a thriving clothing and shoe brand known world-wide, won gold medals at the Olympics and many more.
