Deletion of Immigrant Heritage Week-NYC
[edit]Hello Moianyc. I have reverted the comments you left at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/TravisTX because that was an archived discussion and it was not the correct place to ask questions. The correct way to contact me is to post a message on my talk page.
Regarding your comments:
Travis you erroneously deleted a posting by a government entity. The Post for Immigrant Heritage Week was posted by the New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. You have negated valuable time and effort with no official jusrisdiction to do so. If you have an issue please call 311 or email moianyc@gmail.com. You have done a poor job of editing and I have serious doubts about your track record.
Travis you must explain why you took it upon yourself to remove an official posting by New York City government employee. What is your reasonong, and what copyright infringement has been made. Since the event was created by Mayor Bloomberg himself, I find it very difficult to understand how this could be.
Please explain the grounds by which you determine copyright infringements? Are you an attorney? How are you given the authority to do this without consulting the contributing party?
The article was very close to being a verbatim copy of selected text from this page. You will note that the bottom of that page includes the phrase “©2005-2008 Going, Inc.” which indicates to me that the text is copyrighted and cannot be used anywhere else without the proper permission being granted. For obvious legal reasons, Wikipedia has very strict copyright guidelines. In some circumstances, Wikipedia can accept copyrighted material, but there are procedures in place for that. By the way, I only deleted the article; another user noticed the copyright violation and nominated it for deletion.
2. I agree that you should not quit your day job. It seems as though you are underqualified for this task, and might consider not punishing other users by subjecting them to your lack of expertise and qualifications. Thanks!
I still have my day job; I am a volunteer administrator here, as are all Wikipedia administrators.
If you have any further comments or questions regarding this matter, please leave them here and I will respond as soon as I can. Regards, —Travistalk 16:31, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
User name problem
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: User:Moianyc. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
From your comments, I have realized that your username (Moianyc) stands for Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (New York City) and, as such is a role account which are not allowed. —Travistalk 18:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

- After reading the comments you made in the RfA mentioned above, I must advise you that threats about "jurisdiction" and such are a quick path to being blocked from editing at Wikipedia. Official jurisdiction of New York City means absolutely nothing here. Furthermore, promotional articles of any sort are simply not allowed, which is precisely what you are doing with this article. You must abide by Wikipedia official policy against promotional articles and advertising no matter who you work for. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
