Requested username:

Request reason:

I am new to Wikipedia and did not fully understand that I was in violation of the rules; therefore, I apologise. I have changed my username and account so that it is not related to any specific company or organisation. The company that I initially wrote about is a small company and no promotional efforts were intended. Should my account be unblocked with this new username, I fully intend to revise my proposed article submission to remove any elements that may be considered of a promotional orientation. Furthermore, I intend to voice valid and referenced contributions to the extant articles within the Wikipedia domain; should my knowledge not already be detailed within any relevant articles. It was always my intention to make contributions to other articles and the growing intelligence that is recorded via Wikipedia. Bringing about my reasoning for creating links on the article in dispute with other pages; which I intended to check over and contribute to. I look forward to the outcome of this text and hope that I can start to use Wikipedia as a contributor to both the discussed article and to other articles across the medium. Finally, should my account be re-activated given my change in username and following the detailing of my intentions of using Wikipedia, may I ask what violations I made other than the Username possessing some relevance the the article that I was constructing? Many Thanks.

Decline reason:

This account is not blocked; what you have done is to create a new account, rather than rename your old one. Since I don't know the name of your previous account I'm unable to comment on the other violations you committed beyond the (presumably) inappropriate username, however the template you've used to request unblocking here suggests that your edits were promotional in nature and that your account was being used only for advertising.
Technically speaking I should block this account for block evasion, but if you are willing to abide by Wikipedia's policies in future I see no immediate reason to do so. Be aware, however, that any perceived promotional editing by this account is likely to be met with an immediate block. Yunshui  11:40, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It occurs to me that you may not be able to edit with this account due to an autoblock caused by your old account being blocked; if that's so, please post the message you see when you try to edit. Yunshui  11:42, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. The other account was named QPSWIKI1. What is the next stage of me being able to contribute to Wikipedia again please? Should I use the old account or continue with this new one, or do I have to wait to be unblocked on my old one? Thanks a lot for your help. I believe the infringement was either a link to a video or the old username; other than that, I am unsure what promotional involvement my text had.

I look forward to your response.

The promotional content was... well, everywhere, frankly. Constant (unsourced) references to Quick Play Sport being "market leaders" and "international best sellers", unsubstantiated claims regarding the quality and durability of the company's products, emphasis on the company's customer focus, international marketing and "innovative" design, mission statements - the whole thing could have sprung fully-formed from a marketing brochure. Not only was the text completely inappropriate for Wikipedia in every respect, but it seems seriously unlikely that QPS meets the necessary requirements for inclusion in Wikipedia; specifically: extensive coverage in independent reliable sources. You provided two references, one to the company's own website (obviously not in any way independent) and one to YouTube (not regarded as a reliable source).
Having seen now what you consider to be non-promotional text, I am now going to block this account directly; if you genuinely cannot see the glaring problems with your previous submission then you have clearly spent too much time in the company of marketing professionals to be able to write appropriately. To request unblocking, please log into your previous account and place your unblock request on the talkpage there - you will need to agree not to write about QPS again, and to show that you understand the concept of neutral writing on Wikipedia. Reply Okay, thanks for that information. Given that I now know what wrongdoings were made in creating this page, I understand how what I wrote could be deemed inappropriate use of marketing related material. However, I do have some references available. I saved what I had written in the first place as a draft with the intention of returning in due course. Then when I returned to continue my descriptive article of a company, I was made aware that my account had been blocked. Is there any way in which would allow me to continue my writing and submit a drafted copy once completed (with my references included - not just the website and youtube)? I have also written a contribution on an article called "Internationale Fachmesse für Sportartikel und Sportmode" and nothing was flagged. I am an individual who has a genuine interest in providing accurate and feasible information to contribute to the Wikipedia society. I am an academic and very much used to the referencing system and I fully advocate the practice of referencing in order for sources to be viable and reliable for future researchers. I look forward to you response and sincerely hope that you allow me to contribute to the every-growing database of information. Many Thanks.

As long as your draft didn't meet any of the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically: not copied form elsewhere, not promotional, demonstrating the subject's notability) and was hosted in your userspace or the draft namespace, you could in theory create one. However, you would first need to demonstrate to the Wikipedia community that you were prepared to abide by the site's regulations, and the first step in that direction is to file an appropriate unblock request as Qpswiki1. Reply Hi, I logged out and back in as Qpswiki1 but was not sure where to find the unblock request and could not write anything to get assistance with the matter as Qpswiki1. I would be grateful if you could direct me in the right direction for this please? Many thanks for you assistance with this whole issue.

Log in as Qpswiki1, go to that account's talkpage (use the Talk option in the menu at the top of the screen) and paste the code {{unblock-spamun|Mrclb20|Your reason here}} onto that page, replacing the italic text with your reason for being unblocked. You should also note in your request that you have already created this account, and would like to usurp it. Yunshui  14:41, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reply Thanks for your help in trying to resolve this. Do you know how long it could take to hear back from someone about the request that I submitted through my Qpswiki1 account? Many Thanks.

Most blocks tend to be reviewed within a day or two at most. I'd like to get another administrator's opinion rather than unblocking you myself, but I've left a note at the other talkpage recommending an unblock. Yunshui  15:26, 17 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reply Thank you for your assistance, you have been most helpful with this. I am new using Wikipedia from an editorial stance, so I apologise for my mistakes. Many Thanks.
