Wiki 8[edit]

(I was not sure where to put this, this will have to do) I think that overall you have a very good article here, and there are only a few things that I would change (in order to help the flow).

A few things that stuck out to me:

“'Among the contributing factors to domestic violence are household factors, community and societal factors, and individual factors.'” I think it would improve the flow if you said “community/societal factors”, at this point there are too many and’s in the sentence for my taste.
“With increased domestic violence rates, earnings are lower, productivity at work decreases, and labor market participation declines. [2]”. Consider changing it to something like “Due to increased domestic violence rates….”
Under Policy Responses- elaborate more on ‘light injuries’. I understand that assault, rape and robbery can be considered ‘light injuries’ when inside the home, but what about outside?
“Men or women may be the offender, but research indicates that women suffer disproportionately from abuse by their male partners”. You could also say “Domestic violence can be committed by men or women, although research indicates that women suffer disproportionately from abuse by their male partners”

Under Economic Impacts you could easily add a section on microcredit in Chile, I did a quick Google search and found tons of great sources. If there are sources that examine the connection of microcredit (becoming a microentrepreneur) to domestic violence in Chile, I would endorse this last suggestion, as it would allow connecting your article to the course material on microcredit. That said, it could be that women gaining economic power reduces violence. If so, then putting it under policy discussion would be more appropriate.BerikG (talk) 06:07, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Javaman1145:Thank you for the advice. I will make the sentence-level changes as suggested, I agree that they will help the article. I hadn't realized how vague 'light injuries' was and will certainly expand this topic. So far I have not been able to find research regarding domestic violence and microcredit, but will definitely continue searching.
