Information to be added or removed: Tribeca Grill is New American restaurant located at 375 Greenwich Street (at Franklin Street) in Tribeca, Manhattan, in New York City, co-owned by Robert De Niro and Drew Nieporent, with investors including Bill Murray, Sean Penn, Christopher Walken, Ed Harris, and Lou Diamond Phillips, among others. It opened to great acclaim in 1990. The Executive Chef is Brenton Lee. The large mahogany bar at the center of the restaurant, originated at Jack Dempsey’s Restaurant, and later at the Maxwell’s Plum restaurant, before being reassembled at Tribeca Grill.
Since 2002, Tribeca Grill has been a recipient of the Wine Spectator Grand Award. Tribeca Grill is an original participant in NYC Restaurant Week (since 1992). The restaurant is also an original participant in the annual Taste of Tribeca street festival that supports local Tribeca schools.
375 Greenwich Street was once a Martinson Coffee Factory. The building now houses the Tribeca Film Center in the floors above Tribeca Grill. The restaurant was designed by Lo-Yi Chan, and the cantina style light fixtures were designed by David Rockwell. The artwork on display in the restaurant are all paintings done by Robert De Niro Sr.
Explanation of issue: More interesting and accurate historical & organization facts were added to the information blurb.
