Shanmuga Gramani
Shanmuga Gramani is a local lad live in Mugaiyur of Viluppuram District. His birth date was unknown, but he's believed to have ascended before 1950's AD. His surname is followed by his cast of his local clan. He's married to women named Sundaram, where her roots are believed to be from Pondicherry or currently known as Pudhucherry.
About family:
Shanmuga gramani gave birth to six children. His two daughters got married to the person, who belongs to the same caste. Most of his son's stick with him and follows agriculture as their main profession.
About Occupation:
Shanmuga Gramani's main occupation is farming. He grows crops in his farm lands very close to the bay of Bengal. Apart from growing crops, he focuses on maintaining a vast land for agriculutue where he plants the vast amount of coconut trees, Pine trees, Mango trees and Cashenut trees. He believes the source of income to his family flew through in these agriculture.
About Religious Views:
Unlike most of the Indian people, he follows the Hindu religion as his soul religion. The goddess Durga is considered to be the main deity of his clan. Pujas and prayers are performed to the gods quite often and festivals are conducted around certain months of the year. Theru kuttu is one of the famous celebration conducted by this local clan once in a year, where folks around all the corners of the village gather around and make their workship to the god by offering various sacrifices. In addition to that, the local clan is said to believe their ancestors as their gods and worship them in the form of bricks.
About food.
Like most of the South Asian people, shanmuga gramani eat rice, which is cultivated from his lands. The rice which was cultivated earlier are stored in Big sized boxes which are called Dhaniya. While some of the clan store them in a big clay pots. As per hindu custom, shanmuga gramani avoid taking pork or beef, but he grows cows which helps him with providing milk and farming lands during irrigation. He also maintains other cattle like goats, hen and cock. The cock is believed to be grown in sacrifice to the god during the festival season or considered to be a good meal to his guests.
