Welcome!

Hello, Ncmuseumofhistory, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Please be aware that it is forbidden to edit or create articles about organizations you represent, as it creates a conflict of interest. It is also forbidden to have usernames that promote an organization. Thank you. DJ Clayworth (talk) 20:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say strongly discouraged rather than forbidden as far as the editing goes. NMMus, take a look at WP:COI. I highly encourage you to change your username to one that is not a name of an organization. Aleta Sing 21:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations[edit]

NCMus, thank you for expanding the museum article. However, I had to delete most of your additions because they were lifted verbatim from the website of the museum. Because of copyright issues, we can not copy material directly from other websites. I suggest you read WP:COPY before you submit again. Perhaps you could write the most pertinent information in your own words and cite the museum website and any other sources you use? If you have any questions, please let me know, and I'll try to help you! Aleta Sing 21:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll also try to help you with the article if you have any questions. I lived in Raleigh for several years and am somewhat familiar with the museum. If you have any pictures that you have taken yourself of the museum or exhibits, let me know and I'll show you how to upload them to the article. APK yada yada 21:31, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied to your questions on my talk page. Aleta Sing 20:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied to your question about changing your username on Aleta's talk page, just so you know. —MearsMan talk 18:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist[edit]

Do you know about using the watchlist? You can click the tab that says "watch" at the top of articles that you're working on and talk pages where you're commenting. Then when you go to "my watchlist" you'll see if there have been changes to the page since the last time you looked. It makes it easier to keep up with things. Just letting you know in case you didn't, Aleta Sing 13:40, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

February 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from North Carolina Museum of History. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please dont remove the references section from articles. This is critical to displaying the footnotes other editors have placed within the article. RadioFan (talk) 16:36, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
