Model organisms[edit]

Hi. Thanks for adding model organism sections to Gene Wiki articles. However I am becoming concerned at how these are worded and the number of articles that this is being added to. It is almost never appropriate to state who did or funded the study directly in a Wikipedia article. Those that are interested can find out from the citation. Also please take a careful look at the changes I made to the citations in ALDH3B1. If you are reusing the same citations, it would be good if you could copy them from this article. Thanks. Hi. I didn't mean to scare you away with my revert of the material that you added COL24A1. I was merely trying to get your attention. I have restored an edited version of model organism section. I think the model organism data is definitely useful and I encourage you to add more. But the the promotional tone needs to be toned down. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 06:31, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Boghog, I have taken most of your suggestions on board - have a look at the Aldh3b1 page. I have reentered the links to the consortium pages because it is an ongoing project and people will need to go there if they would like to find out more. The pages contain details about how the results were obtained and which statistical methods were used to reach the conclusions displayed on the heat map. They also contain the raw data to enable people to have a look and judge for themselves. I feel it would not be scientifically sound to display the heat map without linking it to the information crucial to interpret it. We have phenotyped 250 ko mouse lines over the past two years and I am planning to add all the data to Wikipedia. We are hoping to phenotype 550 more in the coming three years. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
