Hi, welcome to Wikipedia.

I was wondering how many flora articles you plan to add your stompbox information to. Some people would argue that the information is not really relevant, and that you're adding it to raise the profile of Ellis Guitars, rather than out of a heartfelt desire to improve these articles. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but please try to add the information only to the most specific taxa. That is, adding it to an article on a species (e.g. Corymbia calophylla) might be okay, but adding it to an article on an entire genus (e.g. Banksia) is a bit cheeky, and adding it to an article on an entire family (e.g. Casuarinaceae) is just ridiculous. There are so many more important things to say about Casuarinaceae than the fact that a small guitar manufacturing company makes stompboxes out of the wood of on or two species. Also, one image is plenty. Adding three images, as you did for example at Corymbia calophylla, makes articles look bizarrely unbalanced.

Thanks for responding to this so promptly. Hesperian 05:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. I only just discovered your message to me from a few days ago. Just so you know, the convention is to reply at the bottom of peoples' talk pages, rather than at the top.
Yeah, it is a shame that timber doesn't get better coverage here, as some of it is stunning. Hesperian 12:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NeriumKristina, it appears that the images you have uploaded [1] are copyright violations from http://www.ellisguitars.com.au/stomp_box_stock.html. The company website clearly says "Copyright 2004 - 2007. Ellis Guitars. All rights reserved". They will have to be deleted I am afraid. —Moondyne 13:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Very new to Wiki, I am actually Nerium Kristina ELLIS as in the ELLIS from ELLIS GUITARS. That's my website I'm uploading from! Is there a way to stop other Wiki dudes mistaking me for an imposter? NeriumKristina 21:38, 5 July 2007
Calm down, no-one's calling you an imposter. I half expected that was the case which was why I didn't delete the images straight away. But there's a few things to sort out:
  1. Wikipedia has very strict rules relating to use of non-free images and other content. There's a procedure that you'll need to follow in order for the images to stay which involves proving you are the owner of the images.
  2. In the meantime, all of the links to the images need to be removed from the articles as it will take some time to resolve #1
  3. Some of the images are useful, but I'm afraid some aren't and are not that relevant to the articles that you linked them to.
Unfortunately I have to go off-line now until tomorrow (family issues) so don't have time to give you complete step by step instructions. In the meantime, work on #2 and I'll post a note here tomorrow as to what has to be done on the other bits. Its possible that another admin will come along and delete the images because the copyright status is unclear. Don't worry too much if they do as they can be undeleted. —Moondyne 14:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you are in fact the owner of the images, and you are agreeing to release them under the GFDL-no-disclaimers and cc-by-sa-2.5,2.0,1.0 licenses (as you tagged the images when you uploaded them), then the best thing to do would be to have a statement to that effect on your website. Currently it says "Copyright 2004 - 2007. Ellis Guitars. All rights reserved" which is a contradiction. —Moondyne 06:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually its not so much a contradiction, more incomplete. You need to expressly state that you're releasing the images under the licenses mentioned above. If you need any more help, please ask. —Moondyne
I see you hadn't yet got around to following my advice, so I've removed all of the images from WP articles as their license status is currently unresolved. You may want to read WP:TAGS. —Moondyne 13:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NeriumKristina,
Please add a word or two to your userpage, this will stop it appearing as a red link. I will be happy to help with the articles you are interested in improving. Moondyne will be better at explaining copyright and making sure the correct boxes are ticked. I thought that some changes were needed as it was, but there is nothing wrong with adding some more info. There is probably a few guidelines you should read first, especially some relating to editing your own companies page. We like to get things right here and information needs to be verifiable and notable to remain included. I was wondering about the use of lower case (UPPER/lower) in James michael thompson, just a minor thing, but if he is published as one or the other it would be nice to change it everywhere. By the way, lower case is ignored in links. For example, e e cummings. I hope you are enjoying editing here. Regards, ☻ Fred|discussion|contributions 22:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
