Although I am not the unsigned IP, I got to this very talk page by googling 'site:wikipedia.org 2 girls 1 cup'. I see this is already in the archives, you must have a lot of popularity for it to hit archives in under 20 days. I do not know exactly what 2g1c is, but I see a LOT of references to it. User:RatedRestricted and friends

Hello Nihiltres. This user, who you have interacted with, posted a help request to a friend here, which was passed to me as an uninvolved admin. He has created two categories suggesting socks for Omnifish and Hargon10. Clearly, there is socking with a single master (cf. Omnihargon10 (talk · contribs), where the names are combined). Hargon10 (talk · contribs) seems to have a fondness for Hitler; the only other real disruption is a desire to bother RatedRestricted.

But RatedRestricted has a strange history, as well. I believe he's changed names (Stealthrabbit127 and BurnMuffin?) and you've accused him earlier this year of impersonating your signature and denying edits he clearly made, here. It's possible that he was stressed out dealing with a troll and handled it badly. Any thoughts? I'll block all the socks, if you concur (maybe get third opinions on AN/I). From what I can see and have seen, it's just one user, RatedRestricted, who's a bit of a WikiGnome, but gets harassed by some idiots like Hargon10/Omnifish and socks who are just trolls who know him in real life. If they vandalize, it's simple to block them, and I've done so for any of those socks that were pretty much vandalism-only and/or pointless socks. I was annoyed when RatedRestricted originally impersonated me, but it wasn't so much that he wanted to impersonate me as that he wanted the "scare factor" of me as the experienced person stepping in, the teacher in the classroom, if you will. I'm inclined to generally AGF for RatedRestricted, whose username changes have been to avoid scrutiny from the trolls. If you want to block any of the Hargon10/Omnifish etc. socks, be my guest, but I was under the impression that they (the trolls) had gone dormant. I don't think we need an AN/I post - this is pretty clear-cut excepting the tangle of obvious sockpuppets (of which some are also meatpuppets). Nihiltres^{t.l} 17:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I think he was impersonating you to create a "scare factor," not knowing better. A young fellow, I think. I guess he means well for the encyclopedia in general, and probably has had an off-site disagreement that spilled on-site. The socks have shown up every few months (including this week) and have added nothing of value to the site. I blocked two of the four, I could find. You'd already blocked the other two a few months ago—do remember to leave a notice. I can't remember the template to do so, but you can always cut and paste from some handle already blocked. Because I am friendly, sure, I'll restore the page and move it to your (currently nonexistent) userpage. You should be aware, however, that since that article was deleted on grounds of notability -and I can say from experience that the text currently gives no examples of notability given the notability guideline for music-related subjects- it is likely to be deleted again if you recreate the article in article space. I would recommend that you make sure that you have references (using footnotes) to reliable sources in a draft version first. :) Nihiltres^{t.l} 15:27, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Voorhis deletion 10/22/07

Whether or not you maintain the decision to delete this page I wrote I would like to recover what I wrote for the article so that I can edit it properly for notability. There are hundreds of print and web references that I will succinctly summarize. I also will watch the page more carefully in case it is tagged again. I figured that after a few months it must have been ok and the current system apparently does not notify authors of PROD other than tagging the page for five days.

Question

Hmm...I was just surfing wikipedia when I noticed a talk box for the first time. It contained a message from you saying I had vandalized the Bridge to Terabithia (novel) page, but I have never even been to that page, nor have I ever edited one. Yes, that is probably the case. Often IP addresses change users or contain multiple users at any one given time. It is unfortunate that this means that sometimes messages reach the wrong people, but this is virtually unavoidable. Nihiltres^{t.l} 13:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Someone impersonating you, or is it you, or is it just a fluke?

I came across someone making a comment on thephoenix.com site with the same user name as yourself. The thing is, he/she is having a rant against Wikipedia, and says he/she has been blocked.

Actually, my comment is the one above the line "POSTED BY Nihiltres" :) . The ranter is just Gregory Kohs, a banned user and longtime Wikipedia critic who often trolls news about Wikipedia. RfC closings?

Hi, Nihiltres! I'm going to take you up on your kind offer and ask you an admin question... How/when do RFC's get closed? Specifically, Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Bluemarine was started in September - how does one know when to close it and come to resolution? I'm only interested because a user (who has not taken part in the RfC) complained about the user's "interesting take on consensus-building" and another user mentioned the RfC. Thanks for your help - I'm still wet behind the ears with this mop, so I'm not very confident in how to use it :) -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:29, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, that's a tricky question. The general idea would be that the Request for Comment has reached some sort of endpoint - either there's some general resolution, or people have begun to ignore it. I haven't actually gotten involved in RfCs - too much drama for my taste. For the closing itself, we have the AfD-like templates {{rfc top}} and {{rfc bottom}}. As far as I understand, RfCs are, entirely, a discussion to gain outside input on some conflict, rather than necessarily seeking some result - unlike, say, an ArbCom ruling, they're meant to be relatively informal, a means of discussion to aid resolution rather than an arbitration (like ArbCom) of the conflict. I'm probably not quite the person to ask, since I haven't gotten involved in that area, but I hope that that's a good starting point. :) Nihiltres^{t.l} 16:20, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
