Edits on Computer Sciences Corporation article[edit]

Thanks for the note in your edit summary here [1]. I continued things on the article’s talk page. Willondon (talk) 20:07, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you don’t get frustrated trying to edit Wikipedia, but that’s what I’m predicting, given that there are so many policies that aren’t being upheld here. I’ve mentioned conflicts of interest, copyright violation [2] and puffery (i.e. “innovative” sourced to the company itself). It’s a pain, but Wikipedia can only work this way: no copying, no puffery, and conflicts of interest recognized. The copyright violation is absolutely forbidden for legal reasons, but it’s also a good policy because straight copying often means the content doesn’t fit well with an encyclopedia. For instance, the part you copied says “Global IT leaders CSC and HCL Technologies today announced […]”, which makes sense in the context of a Business Wire article with a dateline, but when the Wikipedia article is read at some time in the future, “today” makes no sense.

Sorry, but if your edits are going to stick, you’ll need to put in more work than this. Wikipedia is always looking for good editors, so I hope you don’t get frustrated, and I leave it with you to consider whether it’s worth your while to learn a bit more about how editing Wikipedia works. Cheers. Willondon (talk) 12:54, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
