Message to use in GAR en masse delisting[edit]

Novem Linguae I've started on a message at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/February 2023 1/GAR notice. My thinking was that you would be able to just transclude whatever we end up with there, and everyone can fiddle with that page? I'm working now on a template to consolidate all the pages associated with this endeavor. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 10:36, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I added this step to the work instruction. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:37, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-bot processing[edit]

When ready to roll, coordinate final editing of Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Doug Coldwell GA list to make sure to remove any that the Petscan query picks up as delists after we started the process, along with the ones indicated at Wikipedia talk:Good article reassessment/February 2023 1#Intent to open an independent GAR. Since we don't know how long the delay will be until the GAR merger, I think it safest to keep the original 223 article list page intact, to avoid getting crosswise, and only edit down the final bot processing list when we are ready to go. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 10:49, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I added this step to the work instruction. –Novem Linguae (talk) 11:37, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers[edit]

Noting the numbers. SDzerobot started at 223 (misstated by me at the AN as 233). Hog Farm delisted one, and SDzerobot is now returning 222. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 11:40, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering if you want to choose the ten for the trial from those reviewed by Hog Farm? See the reviewer list. HF won't holler if anything goofs :) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 11:47, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Going alphabetical might be slightly easier technically. Will decide a little later if that's OK. –Novem Linguae (talk) 12:04, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're the master :) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:02, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MMS and page headings[edit]

NL, I have been testing MMS for sending the reviewer notice and the talk page notice, and discovered that I needed to remove the headings from those pages, and use that heading as an edit summary, which MMS places as a heading. That is, I did this to get this. You probably already knew that :) But do whatever you need to do to Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/February 2023/GAR notice to make it work as the GAR content-- not sure if that's the same as what MMS does. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:41, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting nuance of MMS. I plan to just place GAR notice as a template, or subst it, so hopefully I don't run into that issue. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:53, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note[edit]

Per this, keep an eye on

which will be copyright deleted in seven days, but still need talk page processing of GA. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:12, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is:
  • make sure the article is still a GA (check for Good article template on article page, and |status=GA on talk page)
Once the articles are deleted, there will only be a talk page status, not an article page template. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:18, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this will work: [1] SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:24, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SandyGeorgia. Thanks for mentioning this. Maybe it'd be easier for you or someone to manually delist these now, since they are exceptions. Less likely to slip through the cracks if handled now manually. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:17, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh. I notified Vami IV, and they will stop doing GAs, and I'm pretty sure my note on the copyright page will mean you can proceed as usual; I'll keep an eye on it for now. I'd rather not clog the GAR page with two more unnecessary reviews (yet). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:20, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I made this edit to hopefully remind us to handle these. If these articles are deleted before the bot run, then we simply need to remember to remove them from the WP:GA topic lists. In fact, if we forget, the folks over at Wikipedia:Good articles/mismatches will catch and handle it. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:22, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I think we're covered. Bst, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:32, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Except I'd sure like to have your bot entry in article history :) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:33, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If the article is deleted, I think the talk page will also be deleted (including the article history), so I think we're probably covered :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ha ... that had not occurred to me! Will leave well enough alone for now then, but watch the Master list ... SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:40, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trial run ?[edit]

Novem Linguae, wondering when you will do the first (trial) run? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 06:45, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Sandy. Getting the bot trial done is my top priority this morning. I'll hopefully be back here in a couple hours with news that the bot trial is done. After that we'll have to wait for BAG to approve the rest of the edits, which usually takes days or weeks. Then we can complete the project. –Novem Linguae (talk) 13:17, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Novem Linguae re "take a look at User talk:Doug Caldwell. there may be some GAR notifications there that didn't make it onto the official lists", I'm pretty sure I checked for this, but another set of eyes would be good (assuming you meant Coldwell, not Caldwell, as there's nothing at Caldwell).
