advice

[edit]

I and others will defend articles on academics if they are defensible. Per WP:PROF this requires either news accounts of the work, or major positions, or awards, or notable publications. In practice, very few Assistant or Associate professors make it, but most full professors at columbia probably do. (Clinical professors, being usually part time, are a little harder) If you are going to list publications, say how many, and which are the most cited--for a notable medical scientist, I'd expect several dozen, most in well known journals, with at least a few having 30 or more references to them from Web of Science. Sometime primary investigator on large grants can do it. Honorary degrees always. If you are going to list NY Mag as notability, give an idea of how many received the award & if its just in NYC. Top 20 in a field nationally is probably defensible, less might be problematic. (And give an exact citation to the issue). But all of this is a rough guide, my opinion only, but based on what the result has generally been at AfD--where the decision goes by consensus. Let me know if I can help with this., DGG (talk) 22:02, 15 January 2008 (UTC) Let me know when you have a revision to look at. If you do any more, do them one or two at a time, starting from the top rank. DGG (talk) 03:36, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
