Eliki

American Singer/Songwriter/Actress Born and raised in Greektown Chicago As a child her grandfather exposed her to Chicago's jazz scene and she began performing as early as 8 years old with musicians like Buddy Charles and Franz Jackson who mentored her talent early on. With influence from her father in the Greektown Chicago nightlife, Eliki was also exposed to belly dancers, bazooki, and the dances that would breakout in Diana's Opaa (her father's restaurant) sparked by her uncle Petros and father Theodosios (also a singer.) Eliki's mother (also a singer) encouraged her gift as well and started to teach her standards by ear. Locals took notice of Eliki's talent and she began performing/acting on the scene as well as street performing.

"I love street performing it helps me to automatically connect with people on the most human level of my artform. I doubt I will ever stop street performing. Street performance was the essence of Congo Square and jazz is our foundation in North America! Im grateful to have grown up in a city where Oscar Brown Jr, Fred Anderson, Mahalia Jackson, Minnie Ripperton, John Hartman, and King Oliver called home. Can't leave out Herbie Hancock! Chicago and New York have influenced me gretly as an artist as well as their streets and subway culture!" Eliki

Mary Shen Barnidge Chicago Reader- "Eliki offers accapella jazz vocals which seemlessly integrate aural expression." (Wordsfest Second City)

Christopher Platt Time Out Chicago- " Muddy-voiced Eliki is a dead pan diva of the Kurt Weill Variety."

What Mela Lee, Lead singer for Magnolia Memoir, had to say in GOOD Magazine's profile of her Top Ten Loves

"8 Eliki, a Harlem artist who really breaks my heart when I hear her voice"

Has been writing for other vocalists, as well as collaborating with Kafele Bandele on house tracks from South Africa (Do It Now) (Baainar,) to the UK (Johnny Montana and Craig Stewart,) and Carlos Mena (Ocha Records.) (SEE WWW.TRAXSOURCE.COM)

Love is the Key Montana and Stewart ft Kafele and Eliki hit #1 on Traxsource December 2011 into Jan 2012!!!! :)

Currently street performing and gigging with great musicians from the NYC Scene! (see @Guitaro5000)

Currently, Eliki resides in Harlem NYC under the management of Laleyna Gomez and is recording her EP with DJ AMORE of INTLX (also a producer of the Maya Azcucena Taste This Mixtape ) scheduled to drop in 2012.
