Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, webside or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:35, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

We will take off "Foundation" so that this doesn't refer to an organization, rather that it will refer to the concept of open genomics in general "open genomics" and open science in general are principles that are not connected to any particular organization. We will remove the mission statement or any specific reference to an organization.

There are many issues that need to be addressed about human genetics that have been suppressed for reasons of profit. Scientific genetic test results are being kept proprietary and "tests" with no concrete or misleading evidence to back them are being offered commercially. The idea here is to get valid scientific research publicized in the most open and free manner possible, and Wikipedia is one of the every best ways to do it. We can list links in the User Page to articles referring to open science, gene patenting, personal genomics, whole genome sequencing, Genbank, and many other technical and ethical aspects of human genomics and none of these will refer to any other organization (except through Wikipedia articles).

As far as contributions go, we have already made a very critical edit about the root of Human Y Chromosome tree, will shortly include a separate article (with detailed information). If necessary, an external list of results can be added directly to tables in the Wikipedia article. (The lists of mutations referred include primer pairs and SNP test results, which allow anyone to conduct a PCR test for these mutations in their own lab. (Primer pairs for can be ordered by anyone This is in the spirit of open, non-proprietary science.)

We have many other contributions to make. These will of course include proper references generated by the Wiki Reference Generator. Hopefully a change of username to "Open Genomes" and a removal of any reference to a specific organization instead general references to principles and issues in open science will be acceptable.

Decline reason:

username still relates to the Foundation. See comment below.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:44, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two problems; firstly, your suggested username still relates to the Foundation, as hence is not admissable. Your username must not relate in any way to any organisation, whether it is one for profit or not. Secondly, you refer to yourself thoughout your unblock request as "we". Wikipedia accounts are for one person only, and group usage is absolutely forbidden.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:42, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
