Request reason:

We have done a lot of research on flounder gigging and bowfishing. We are in the sport 24/7 and we work hand in hand with fishing guides and commercial fishermen. The edit I made was not promotional at all, it was adding that underwater lights are commonly used for flounder gigging. Anyone who knows anything about the sport knows that underwater lights are the leader in the flounder gigging space. I bring this up and you guys decide to block me over it. Quite frankly that is pretty sad that you have such quick judgement but I guess I understand because you probably deal with thousands of these every day. Anyways, I noticed that Loxley Bowfishing is listed as an external link for "bowfishing" on wikipedia, which seems like more of a promotional advertisement than our work is. Loxley bowfishing is a small, new business in bowfishing that sells bowfishing gloves. They listed their link in the bowfishing page and it looks like you guys left it there. Our blogs come from the experience of actual commercial fishermen and guides who are in the sport every day, whereas Loxley's blogs come from them googling things here and there. They do not have the field experience that we do. I'd like to talk to someone on the phone about this

You need to choose a new username as yours is not acceptable as a company name. Your use of "we" throughout suggests that you're editing on behalf of a company, too. Linking to your own website is also promotional. Any future unblock request will need to include a new username suggestion as well as your understanding of Wikipedia's policies on conflict of interest, paid editing, and spam. only (talk) 19:43, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I shortened the name so it is not promotional. When I say "we" I am referring to myself as a one man show. I do not represent some big corporation like you make it sound. I am not making money off of my posts, I am trying to help you guys provide accurate definitions of flounder gigging and bowfishing. We have spent a lot of time and effort in making our blog posts valuable to our readers. Like I said before, I work directly with fishing guides and commercial fishermen and the definitions of flounder gigging you guys present are valid as of about 20 years ago. What you guys call modern is no longer modern technology. We are an active member in pushing flounder gigging and bowfishing to continue to develop into a better experience. To give you a relative comparison, you guys are talking about flip phones from the past and I'm trying to explain to you how the IPhone works.

Shortening your existing problematic username is not acceptable; if you want your website name to be a part of your name, you may format it as "Username of OutriggerO". Your username must indicate that a specific individual is exclusively operating your account(your real name is not required). You offer products for sale on your website and linked to your website in your one edit, so you clearly are getting a financial benefit here, and meet the definition of a paid editor. Even leaving that aside, you seem to be saying that you are here to add your personal knowledge cited to your blog posts to articles; that is not acceptable Wikipedia content. Wikipedia content should primarily be based on independent reliable sources. Since you are only here to add information sourced to your website, there are no grounds to lift the block, and I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 20:29, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
