Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Father Ryan High School appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. I was led to understand that apart from an existing article in Wikipedia, a notable entry can be added provided it contains verifiable links footnoted below in the reference section. That is what was done with that entry in question. All verifiable links are notable, particularly when compared to other "notable entries" with actual articles. Take the Monica Wehby article. It is cited as containing "multiple issues" as well as "unverifiable content" and "disputed factual accuracy" yet it is allowed to stand. Please allow the update to stand with verifiable notable links until an article can be published. Articles while preferred, are not required per guidelines. Again, read WP:WTAF. We do not list notable alumni without English Wikipedia articles to show their notability. There are very limited exceptions to that rule, but your entry does not appear to meet any of those exceptions. High school athletic accomplishments and high school halls of fame certainly do not warrant inclusion. And the PGA mention appears to be nothing but a long-service award. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Father Ryan High School. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. No, restoring your edit isn't going to work. WP:WTAF Meters (talk) 05:11, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your username suggests that you may be Peter J. Ferreira. If so, it's really not a good idea to attempt to add yourself to a list of notable people. Meters (talk) 05:52, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. I will remove all recent updates I placed on the Notable Alumni section pending an appropriate published article. I was only trying to provide accuracy to the list based on newer HoF inductions as it was fairly recently established. I will take them off since they do not warrant inclusion. Thank you for your clarification and information with respect to editing there. PJF007 (talk) 05:59, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The entries who already have Wikipedia articles to show their notability do not need to be deleted as long as there is proof that they attended. The proof of attendance can be in their articles or in the school article. What I meant is that being in a high school hall of fame is not sufficient proof of notability to justify their being listed as notable alumni. Meters (talk) 07:01, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
