Problems with refs
[edit]Hi, There's still problems with the refs so I had to revert that edit. Please fix and test your links first before adding back: youtube is not considered a WP:RS - pls find other refs. You need a ref for the namechange as he is listed as H. on all the pages I saw. (Note you will have to edit this page to see my markings.)
Mark Hercules Durkan is a Social Democratic and Labour Party politician in Northern Ireland who was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2011.[1]
He was elected to Derry City Council in 2005 served thereon until 2011, when he was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly.[2] He is the nephew of former SDLP leader Mark Durkan.[3]
He serves as the SDLP's spokesperson on Social Development, where he made significant contributions to debates on the Northern Irish implementation of the Westminster Coalition Government's Welfare Reform Bill 2012.[4]
He served as his party's health spokesman from May 2011 to April 2012, and distinguished himself in his tireless campaigning on the outbreak, in January 2012, of Pseudomonas in the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital, Belfast and Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Derry, which claimed the lives of several infants[5]. He has also championed the relaxation of the gay blood ban in Northern Ireland and an opt-out system for organ donation[6]
In his spare time, Mark regularly gives his time to charitable causes, which has led him to compete in Ballroom and Latin Dancingcompetitions[7] and White Collar Boxing bouts[8] in his home city.
He became engaged to his girlfriend Anne in April 2012.[9]
